We previously discussed that hollow doors could be a sign of infestation. However, there are other ways to check your door or home for termites.

Usually, subterranean termites will make their nest in soil. They travel long distances underground through vertical mud tubes.

These can be seen in your front or back yard. And sometimes, the tubes will connect to a food source such as your wood door. However, be aware that even if these tubes are not present, termites could still be.

Termites have wings that they shed before infesting a food source. They will usually leave their wings near windows or a warm area.

Lastly, you can take a knife and scrape it off the surface of your door. Look for tunnels that run parallel to the wood grain.
